About Samuel Mbae Ragwa
Samuel Ragwa was born at Giampampo village in Mitheru ward, Maara District on 22nd August, 1968.
He is a Kenyan politician and the governor for Tharaka Nithi, alongside his deputy governor Eliud Mate Muriithi. He is a member of The National alliance and a coalition member of Jubilee Alliance.
Samuel Ragwa started off his professional career as a Hospital administrator, first working at Nyeri Hospital, moving on to Meru General Hospital and later to Embu Provincial Hospital, following a series of promotions.
He later became the C.E.O of P.C.E.A. Chogoria Mission Hospital.
In 2012, after a long illustrious career in administrative positions in various hospitals, Samuel resigned from his post to join politics.
From 1991 to 1997, he served as the provincial personnel officer in-charge of former Eastern Province.
He also served as Personnel Officer II (1987-1990). He is currently the B.O.G Chairman – Kiini Secondary school and a Member of CHAK (Christian Health Services of Kenya).
Apart from school, he sidled up to former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, his political mentor. The idea was to go through his mentor’s development manual to learn just how to do it.
Ragwa has been successful. Among the milestones the county has achieved on his watch is upgrading the health sector from 37 dispensaries to the current 59, there were 214 nurses and now there are 576, with each dispensary having at least a couple of nurses.
A dedicated player of pool, Ragwa regrets there is no unity among other leaders such as MPs and the senator. “They have never agreed on the projects which we need to be implemented; most of them operate alone, making the county lose out on big projects.”
