Carey also said that he first taught Willow to shoot a gun when she was three, and that he's doing it with a purpose. "For the record none of us hunt, just enjoy shooting for sport," he continued in the caption. "Im raising the kids with knowledge of fire arms [sic], how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands. #knowledgeispower ."

His post received a mixed reaction from his Instagram followers, sparking a gun control debate in the comments. "I love this, teach them young and teach them right!!! Great job Daddy," one person wrote.

Some, however, disagreed with Carey's thought process. "The only people who should know about guns are adults who NEED to know. Cops and the military. THATS IT. Kids? Come on," another said.

Others still were decidedly in the middle. "Guns scare me so its not something I will do with my kids but doesnt make you wrong," one person wrote.

This isn't the first time Carey has gotten social media backlash for his parenting techniques. Back in August, people freaked out after he shared a video of on Instagram of himself with his son Jameson-who had recently been diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease-in what appears to be a hotel lobby. And last December, he took some heat after sharing a photo of Jameson, then 2, on his dirt bike where he talked about taking him for a ride.

But with all the parenting criticism that has come his way, Carey has made it clear that he could give exactly zero craps about what other people think. So odds are hes not losing sleep over this latest controversy, either.

And he isnt the only celebrity to speak out about guns lately. Jessica Alba , Diane Kruger , and Aly Raisman have all spoken out against gun violence, while celebrities like Brad Pitt , Whoopi Goldberg , and Samuel L. Jackson have been open about owning guns and learning to use them responsibly. While Pink has yet to speak out publicly on the issue, it's clear people have strong views on either side of this ongoing debate.
