ODM replaces Otiende Amollo in key parliamentary committee

Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) Otiende Amollo was on Tuesday replaced as the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.

Amollo was immediately replaced by his Ruaraka counterpart T. J. Kajwang.

The change was communicated by Majority Leader Amos Kimunya during the afternoon session of the August House.

The JLAC is the committee which deliberated the Constitution Amendment (Bill), 2020 which is popularly known as the BBI Bill.

Minority Leader John Mbadi explained that the change is aimed at aligning the aspirations of the ODM party with the work of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.

He added: "Kajwang is joining. He may not be a professor in law but is the people's Chief Justice."
