Political career
He survived three impeachment motions in the Nyeri County Assembly.
He had been elected as the Nyeri governor in March 2013 on a GNU party ticket alongside deputy governor, Wamathai Samwel Githaiga.
Mr Wamathai has since become the governor, in accordance with the constittuion.
