Nutritionists endorse Brookside Plus products on quality

Milk processor Brookside Dairy has received a major boost after the country’s top nutritionists’ body endorsed its products for high quality and nutritional attributes.

The Kenya Nutrionists and Dieticians’ Institute (KNDI), an agency under the Ministry of Health, said the processor’s products had been tested and cleared for quality and nutritional benefits.

KNDI Chief Executive Offficer Dr David Okeyo said the endorsement process consisted of rigorous scientific checks that involved medics in the fields of nutrition and food science.

“Today, we are delighted to let the country know that products under the Brookside Plus range (probiotic yoghurt, UHT fortified milk with fibre and Vitamin A and D, low fat and Lala categories) meet the nutritional needs of their specific categories,” Dr Okeyo said.

The processor is the first dairy firm in the country to be accredited by the KNDI, besides being the only company to have multiple products endorsed by the apex nutritionists’ body.

Brookside’s Marketing Director Reza Chabokro said the processor had invested in products that address the nutritional needs of all consumers.

“As an ethical player in the country’s food landscape, we feel honoured by the endorsement by the KNDI, which enhances our brand personality and credibility,” Mr Chabokro said.

“The endorsement also cements our brand equity, and we commend the KNDI and the government for this milestone in our operations,” he added.

Mr Chabokro said adequate nutrition was key to sustainable growth through all stages of life, hence Brookside’s investment in innovation of products that satisfy the various well-being needs of its consumers.

“The human body needs a balanced proportion of seven vital nutrients: proteins, minerals, fats, vitamins, fiber, carbohydrates and water. Typically, these nutrients perform a specific task in maintaining metabolic functions of the body. Our products thus offer solutions for all these nutritional needs,” Chabokro added.
