    Dr. Lagat is the Chairman of Education and ICT committee of the Council of Governors (CoG) an achievement attributed to his career as a teacher, administrator and scholar.

    Political career

    Dr Lagat joined politics in 2013 after resigning as a Principal of Eldoret Polythenic in 2012. He had previously held other positions in Kenyan tertiary colleges

    He is a member of the Jubilee Party. He was elected alongside his deputy governor Dominic Chepyagan Biwott.

    He lost to Stephen Sang in the nominations and he will not be vying to retain his seat. However, Sang will be facing off with independent candidates Anderson Serem and Nicholas Tirop.
