Nation reported that up to the time Irungu went to Dubai before proceeding to Afghanistan where he was trained on security matters.

A close friend told The Nation that “I don’t know much of his present lifestyle. However, during our good times he was a staunch church member at Agape Church and a superb vocalist in the church choir”.

Scanty details were available on his engagements in Dubai and Afghanistan as well as his security firm specializing in close protection, VIP protection, executive protection and “special projects.” with offices in UK and the United Arab Emirates.

“I was told while he was in Afghanistan, he trained on security matters but since we never communicated I can’t authoritatively comment on what he was doing there”. One friend said.

To members of Agape Church situated in Pangani estate where the suspect worshipped, Irungu was a born again Christian of good morals and they are struggling to come to terms with his suspected involvement in the death of Miss Kimani.

“Irungu is one person who never missed going to church. His absence was easily noticed…I was shocked when I saw his photograph in the Daily Nation as the main suspect in the murder of a girl in Kilimani estate in Nairobi.”

Irungu who reportedly handled security for details of several Jubilee politicians in last year’s election is currently in police custody together with his fiancé Jacque Maribe.

Yesterday, police disclosed that they had recovered a gun that was allegedly used in the shooting of Irungu in what police sources suspect was a suicide attempt.
