Last week reports hit headlines indicating that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)Chairman Wafula Chebukati had fired his personal assistant over leaked memos to the public.
Mr. Gekara Muoni was allegedly sent home packing on grounds that he was responsible for the leaked internal memos directed towards the electoral body CEO Ezra Chiloba.
However, Muoni has come out to dismiss the reports as fake and malicious.
Through his lawyer, the PA stated that he was on leave when the reports emerged that he has been fired.
“Our client was on leave at all times pertinent to the period under reference and was thus incapable of perusing or accessing the information alleged to have been leaked to warrant your said publication,” a report by the Star quoted Muoni.
Chebukati’s PA noted that he was still in office and executing his mandate.
“It is instructive to note that our client who is retained to render services to the office of the chairman of the commission as a technical advisor has since joining rendered diligent services,” the local daily quoted.
