Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has instructed his lawyers to sue police spokesperson Charles Owino after being linked to the attack launched at Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Karen home.
Mr. Aladwa was arrested at his house in Buruburu, Nairobi, on Saturday, February 3, 2018. This was a day after the former Vice President missed the swearing-in of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.
However, the legislator was released on a free bond after police established that he could have been out of Nairobi during the attack.
In a report by the Standard, a police spokesperson stated that they had discovered that Mr. Aladwa was in Mombasa for a parliamentary meeting.
“I have instructed my lawyer to commence a suit against the police spokesman,” he said.
Swearing-in Illegal
The MP was then charged with attending an illegal ceremony and witnessing the taking of an illegal oath.
After Aladwa's arrest, Mr Owino divulged that the lawmaker was taken in for questioning in relation to a bomb attack on Kalonzo’s Karen home.
The police spokesman also revealed that Aladwa was also probed in relations to violence and protests that was witnessed in Kibra following the arrest of Miguna Miguna
