Keter stated that the seven folks dams were almost full with Masinga dam expected to burst its banks anytime by Friday.
The energy CS defended the government's decision to evacuate people from the areas surrounding the dams noting that the floods were only realised with a notice of only three days.
"People in Garissa told to move to safer and higher ground as they will be affected first as the water moves downwards towards Garsen."
"With a short notice of 3 days there is very little that the government can do to mitigate the floods," Keter stated.

He added that Kenyans will benefit from cheaper power from the overflowing dams which are used for generation of hydroelectric power.
