On Wednesday, Director of Medical Service Dr Jackson Kioko said the national government had sent a team of disease surveillance experts to Migori County to go probe the nature of the mysterious disease.

That story is just an individual person and there is a team which has gone to find out the truth whether it’s a medical problem; and if it is a medical problem to take the patient to hospital for screening because we cannot tell from the look if someone has an STI,” Kioko said on the investigation.

There were claims on social media that the disease started spreading after a man traveled to Uganda and later started having sore genitals.
