Court orders immediate arrest of Governor Anyang' Nyong'o

The High Court has ordered the immediate arrest of Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o and his sister Risper Nyagoy on contempt of court charges.

The order issued on Thursday came as the Governor was away in Nakuru County for a special Governors' conference.

The two disobeyed court orders that had required them to appear in person for a hearing.

In addition, the two also failed to pay a Sh400,000 fine that was imposed on them by the courts.

Justice Tripsisa Cherere The court order also commits the two to civil jail for one month.

Nyong'o, sister locked in battle against nephew

Governor Nyong'o and his sister are in court in a suit against their nephew Kenneth Odhiambo.

Mr Odhiambo was seeking to have the two compelled to include them in the sharing of Sh200 million property left by their [Anyang' and Nyagoy's] father, Hesbone Shimei Nyong’o.
