She holds a Bachelors Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution and Diploma in Business Administration.

Halima first vied for the Galole parliamentary seat in 1983 while still a teenager and came second. As a young Somali girl, that was unheard of. Before she resigned to join politics, she worked in the provincial administration as a District Officer.

Her experience in the provincial administration made her a competent peace campaigner and negotiator. She would like to help her constituents gain access to water, bursaries and scholarships for learners and improved healthcare.

She is a member of Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Technology and Catering and Health committee.

She is currently a member of Jubilee party after decamping from Wiper Democratic Party.
