About Ali Ibrahim Roba

Born in the early '70s, Capt. Ali Ibrahim Roba studied in Mandera before joining the University of Nairobi for his undergraduate and post graduate degrees.

He has degrees in Business Management and Strategic Planning. He studied in Kenya Utalii College, Delta Qualiflight School of Aviation in Fort Worth Texas, Kenya School of Flying among other institutions.

Captain Ali is a pilot with an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL). He is an instructor, examiner, a KCAA Approved Instrument Rating Examiner, a Training and Check pilot and Ground Instructor of various aviation related subjects.

He worked for DAC Aviation International which is a Multinational Company between 2002 - 2012.  He grew through the ranks starting as a co-pilot in 2002 to the position of the Director of Flight Operations (DFO) in charge of the core business of the company in over nine countries.

Captain Ali Roba has played a major role in re-structuring flight operations department and enhancing the efficiency of operational control functions to enviable levels within the general aviation industry in Kenya.

Determined to use his knowledge and professional experience and a desire to make a difference in the lives of his county, Captain Roba offered himself for the gubernatorial position in the wake of devolution in Kenya.

He was successfully elected as the governor of Mandera County. The Captain is married with six children.

Ali Roba has played a major role in re-structuring of flight operations department and enhancing the efficiency of operational control functions to enviable levels within the general aviation industry in Kenya.

Once Roba was attacked by militants where 4 people were killed and he was injured; one of the deaths was in his convoy. In an interview with the media Mr Roba said he was on his way to the office from his home when the IED exploded.
