According to a Gazette notice, Ntimama will be serving at the board for a period of three years.
The younger Ntimama will be replacing former Board's chairman Fazul Mohammed.
In 2016, Mr Kenyatta revoked the appointment of former NIS boss Michael Gichangi as chairperson of the Private Security Regulatory Authority and appointed Amos to the position.
Gichangi, who served as President Wai Kibaki's most trusted security advisor, previously resigned unceremoniously as the NIS boss over what was termed as discord in the Jubilee administration.
