Will Netflix's Dead to Me Get a Season 3?
Dead to Me follows Jen (Applegate), a recent widow who is struggling to raise her children and cope with the anger she feels about her husband's death in a hit and run. She meets the less-reserved, free-spirited Judy (Cardellini) in a bereavement support group, and an unlikely friendship forms between the two women. Howeverspoiler alert, kind ofthe final moments of the pilot episode reveal that Judy was actually involved in the car accident that killed Jen's husband, and she might have an ulterior motive for seeking out and befriending her.
The first season ends with Jen learning the truth about Judy and kicking her out of her guest house, where she's been letting her crash. However, when the second season begins, circumstances force Jen and Judy back into each other's orbit, and they have to work together to clean up another grisly mess.
Will there be a Season 3 of Dead to Me?
Netflix has yet to announce whether or not a third season of Dead to Me has been approved, however showrunner Liz Feldman has not indicated that Season 2 was written to be the show's last. The streaming platform also has a history of letting shows run for three seasons, giving them a chance to wrap up all of their storylines, before canceling them (and when show's are a big success, like Stranger Things , Grace and Frankie, or Orange is the New Black, they tend to run even longer.
Applegate's performance in Season 1 earned her a Best Actress in a Comedy Series nomination at the Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics' Choice TV Awards and SAG Awards, while Feldman won a Writers Guild of America Award for the pilot. If Season 2 receives similar recognition, and/or if fans love it just as much as they've loved the first season it's very possible that Netflix will greenlight Season 3.
