Malindi Member of Parliament (MP) Aisha Jumwa on Thursday questioned the authenticity of a report that recommended her expulsion from the party.

Jumwa, who was expelled together with Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori, insisted that they were both firmly in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

"I want to thank the party for giving us the opportunity to appear before NEC to defend ourselves.

"We don’t recognize the integrity of the report purporting to remove us from our party," she stated minutes after the party announced the NEC's final decision.

Firmly in ODM

MP Dori further stated that he did not accept the decision of the NEC to expel them both from the party.

"ODM is our party and we are going nowhere," he asserted.

The NEC meeting that passed a decision to remove the two from the party was chaired by deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya.

"The NEC adopted recommendations by the Disciplinary Committee to have the two legislators namely...expelled from the party and forwarded the same recommendation to the National Governing Council (NGC) for ratification," the party's letter read in part.
