Former Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph once described Kenyans as innately peculiar.

Nothing sets Kenyans apart than our habit of demonstration which almost always turn violent.

On Monday, teachers in Kericho county organised a demonstration which turned violent after police tried to disperse the protesters.

One fast-paced teacher took advantage and caned a police officer who was preparing to hit another protester.

The officer nearly fell to the ground as his attacker quickly joined the masses in running away from the security personnel.

The moment was caught on camera and the video of the incident has since gone viral.

It seems that teaching, once the profession of Kenya’s elite, has been diluted with some of the crude behaviours that make Kenyans peculiar.

Majority of Kenyans who commented, however, supported the teacher – arguing the police officers were wrong to clobber the otherwise peaceful crowd.
