"Mr Speaker, I want to know whether the CS is aware that several Kenyans have been arrested on Lake Victoria under unclear circumstances. I also want to know what steps the ministry put in place to end the continued harassment and detention of Kenyan citizens," Odege told Parliament.

The arrested fishermen come from Remba Island in Suba North, and are held at Sota Beach in Tanzania.

Their colleagues have complained that the Tanzanian authorities also forcefully took away fishing gear worth millions.

The MP has also called on the CS and the President to give Kenyans an update of the negotiations between Kenya and Uganda over the ownership of Migingo Island.
