The High Court in its ruling suspended the directive given by the government on Thursday, to have his license to hold a firearm revoked, pending a hearing and determination of the case he filed in the court.

This comes a day after the Government announced that it will revoke the firearm licenses of the legislators allied to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The first casualty under the new government directive was Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati whose firearm certificate was revoked and he was directed to surrender his pistol and shotgun by close of business on Thursday.

Other NRM allied members who have had their firearm licenses revoked include Wiper leader and NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and the Amani National Coalition party leader Musalia Mudavadi among others.

The government has also withdrawn security detail attached to various opposition allied politicians.
