Nairobi Woman representative Esther Passaris is proving an exception to the aggression and adversity that characterizes the Kenyan political scene.

In an impressive gesture of grace, Passaris sent out a special condolence to her political opponent and predecessor Rachael Shebesh, whose father, Samuel Mbugua Wainaina, passed on last week.

The Nairobi Women Rep was also present at the funeral of Wainaina who once served as the Mayor of Nairobi.

“Attending the funeral service of the father of my sister and friend Rachael Shebesh, His Worship the Former Mayor of Nairobi Samuel Mbugua. Celebrating a life well lived. Rest in Peace,” Passaris stated in an Instagram post which was accompanied by a photo of Shebesh’s father.

The two female politicians have had a bitter-sweet relationship having fought for the same seat in 2013 and 2017.

In private, however, the two appear to have a cordial relationship as Passaris was one of the leaders who publicly defended Shebesh in the infamous slap scandal at the Office of then Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
