Odinga travelled to South Africa to attend the funeral of the country's respected Anti-Apartheid heroine Winnie Mandela.

At the airport in Johannesburg, the Odinga and his wife Ida were received by Ambassador Jean Kamau - Kenya's High Commissioner in South Africa.

However, Odinga's tweet informing Kenyans of his visit received widespread criticism.

A section of those who reacted raised issue with Odinga's handlers for tweeting in third-person tone.

Others made references to the issues that are yet to be settled in the aftermath of the famous handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
