Speaking on Friday at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi, Raila maintained that he and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka were still in the Opposition.

Handshake in Opposition

He clarified that although he had made peace with President Uhuru Kenyatta through the handshake of unity, that did not mean the demise of Opposition.

"I have not joined Government. I do not hold any position in the Jubilee administration. Therefore, nothing stops me from criticising the Government. Those that have contrary views are wrong," Raila remarked.

Mr Odinga reacted to views from Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, his co-principal in NASA, that the handshake with President Kenyatta had crippled the Opposition.

On Wednesday, Mr Mudavadi slammed Raila and Mr Musyoka for working with the Jubilee government.

Betrayal

According to the ANC Party leader, Raila and Kalonzo's actions was a betrayal of millions of Kenyans who voted for NASA last year.

Raila defended his decision to work with President Uhuru and Kalonzo’s new job as a peace envoy to South Sudan, maintaining that their new appointments did not affect the Opposition.

Kalonzo proclaimed last week that he would be the President's ''errand boy'' and cautioned that no one should come between them.

This was followed by an announcement of his appointment as the head of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission on peace in South Sudan.
