Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been dispatched to probe the whereabouts of Chief Inspector George Mathenge Mithamo, who went missing on Saturday under mysterious circumstances.

Mithamo was the Officer Commanding Station at Kileleshwa Police Station.
His family is said to have raised the red flag to his bosses after they failed to reach him on his phone, and established that he was neither at home nor at his place of work.
His colleagues, however, sent a dispatch to Vigilance House - the police headquarters - and said Mithamo had absconded duty.

Investigators have since traced his police radio while his phone has been unanswered since Saturday.
Kileleshwa police officer in charge of Crime, Inspector Martha Wanjiku, was one of the colleagues who were summoned to give information on the incident.
