IEBC Nyeri National Polytechnic Presiding Officer Patrick Ndung'u was charged on Friday with failure to submit result forms for the August 8 poll.

Ndung'u becomes the first IEBC official to be held criminally responsible over the illegalities and irregularities that marred the August 8 election.

If found guilty, Ndung'u could face a Sh1 million fine, three years imprisonment or both under the election offences Act enacted by Parliament.

The development came as NASA coalition heightened pressure to have management officers at the electoral body face criminal charges for allegedly bungling the presidential election.

Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi revealed that the Opposition had officially notified the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) of intention to start private prosecution against 13 senior IEBC officials, including Wafula Chebukati and Ezra Chiloba.
