Emerging reports indicate that the eight were traveling from a burial in Murang'a when the accident happened.

Four died on the spot while while three adults and a minor died at Nyahururu referral hospital.

Police confirmed that five others were injured during the night accident.

Presidential directive

Pondo MCA Kamau Gathungu and other Nyandarua leaders went to the scene of the accident and assisted the injured.

Speaking to a local daily Mr Gathungu said: "he vehicle rolled for more than 500m. The cause of the accident has not been established. No other vehicle was involved".

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta instructed National Transport and Safety Authority officers (NTSA) be withdrawn from all Kenyan roads noting that law and order on the road was solely the mandate of the traffic cops.
