For a man used to the fine things in life, it must have felt like a stay in hell for Obado as he had to bear with the hostile conditions in Kenyan police cells.

To begin with, there was no mattress for the county boss and he had to sleep on the cold bare floor for the three nights he spent at Gigiri Police Station.

Governors are accorded five-star quality of meals but for Obado, he had ugali and Sukuma wiki most of time, which he had to eat with his fingers.

The only change of meal was on Sunday afternoon when he had rice, beans, served with cabbages.

For breakfast, tea and three slices of bread was served, a sign of the improved quality of food in police cells, but still a far cry from the rich variety of breakfast that would normally greet him ahead of his daily duties.
