Education CS Amina Mohamed on Monday released the 2018 KCPE results, barely three weeks after pupils finished sitting their papers.
Unlike in the past when the CS would announce the ranking of the best candidates and the leading schools, Mohamed only announced the top performers – leaving the media to do their independent ranking.
Pulselive.co.ke has relied on its own independent research and the lists compiled by various media houses to come up with this list of top ten schools that produced the best students.
1. Riara Group of Schools
The Ngong Road-based private school is owned by veteran educationists Daniel and Eddah Gachukia.
The school produced one the leading KCPE candidates, Olive Mwea Wachira, who scored an impressive 453 marks.
76 out of 168 candidates scored above 400 marks to give the school a mean score of 386.9.
2. Emmanuel Springs Academy
The little-known private school is located in Wote, Makueni and produced a list of top scorers, including the third best student in the country - Victor Momanyi Mogusu.
17 students scored over 430 marks.
3. Makini School
The school has a long history of excellence and has maintained its reputation, despite being sold to a South African company earlier in the year.
With school fees going up to Sh250,000 a year, it is expected that parents expect their children to lead as they did in the 2018 KCPE 2018.
Over 80 students had at least 400 marks, while 3 students had over 440 marks out of the possible 500.
Here are some of the other schools with exemplary results:

5. Whitestar Academy Nairobi
6. Thika Road Christian School Nairobi
7. Tender Care Academy Nairobi
8. PCEA Kahawa Sukari Kiambu
