Kenya's brightest minds are converging this August to transform the future
From August 19th to 23rd, at The Edge Convention Centre in Nairobi, this festival is all set to bring together brilliant minds from across the country and beyond.
Whether you're a seasoned researcher, a young innovator, or just curious about the future of science and technology in Kenya, this event is for you.
What’s happening at KNRF 2024?
The festival, organised by the National Research Fund (NRF) in collaboration with Young Scientists Kenya (YSK), isn’t just your typical conference. It’s a gathering where research meets real-world impact.
The theme, "Research Partnerships and Collaborations for Socio-Economic Transformation," says it all.
It’s about coming together to push Kenya forward, using research and innovation to tackle the big challenges we face today.
One of the most anticipated moments will be the keynote address by Dr Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Higher Education and Research.
She’ll kick off the festival by highlighting just how crucial research, science, technology, and innovation are for Kenya’s growth in an increasingly competitive global market.
Spotlight on young Kenyan innovators
KNRF 2024 is shining a spotlight on the next generation of Kenyan innovators.
Coinciding with the 7th YSK National Science and Technology Exhibition, it will feature over 1,000 students from 390 schools across the country attending at the venue and virtually.
These young scientists will be showcasing their incredible projects, competing in categories like Technology, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and more. And the stakes are high—top winners will walk away with scholarships, cash prizes, and even an international trip to Ireland.
Why This Festival Matters
The KNRF 2024 is packed with exhibitions, panel discussions, and workshops that explore how research can solve real-world problems.
From health and life sciences to digital transformation and renewable energy, the festival covers all the big issues that matter most to Kenya’s future.
This festival is also about action. It’s aligned with Kenya Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), making sure that what happens here translates into real socio-economic progress.
Whether you're attending as a researcher, a policymaker, or just an interested citizen, there’s something here for everyone who cares about Kenya’s future.
A Festival for Everyone
One of the coolest things about KNRF 2024 is how it opens its doors to the public. Whether you're a student thinking about a career in research or just someone who loves learning new things, there are plenty of activities designed to engage and inspire you.
There’s even a Careers Fair in Research, science communication sessions, and public engagement activities that make research accessible and relevant to everyone.
