Kenyans decry new Covid-19 directives

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday gave his 15th Presidential address on the Covid-19 pandemic. Among them was the cessation of movement and new curfew restrictions in Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Nakuru and Machakos.

This has led to many Kenyans alarmed by the President’s new Covid-19 protocols.

People are about to :
• lose their jobs.
• get salary cuts.
We’re going to have to adapt to last year’s way of life. Like we’ve even healed or recovered what was lost last year. All that time, all that money and we’re still at the same spot. Or worse.

I was at the Getaway Tourism Expo on Sunday and some hotels were fully booked over Easter weekend. Airlines we're adding flights to meet demand. One of my fav beach resorts had a reopening cocktail on Thursday after a year.
Tour operators were banking on the long weekend.

The fact that such far-reaching restrictions on movement, work, were announced without any financial relief measures in place, really tells you just how disconnected policy making in GoK is, from the reality of millions of citizens.
