Government takes action after the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash that killed all 157 on board

The government through various state agencies has moved in swiftly in a bid to support relatives and friends of those who perished in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash that claimed 157 lives.

Two emergency centres have been established at JKIA for kin of passengers in crashed Ethiopian Airlines plane.

Kenya Red Cross has also set up tracing desk at JKIA complete with an emergency contact where psychosocial support services will also be offered.

A statement by Kenya Red Cross posted on Twitter stated that “Following reports of the Ethiopian Airlines passenger aircraft, we are setting up a tracing desk at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. You can reach us on 0715 820219. We will also be offering psychosocial support services”.

The flight had people from 33 nationalities including 149 passengers and 8 crew.

Reports indicate that the nationalities of those who perished in the crash were as follows:

32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, 9 Ethiopians, 8 Chinese, 8 Italians, 8 Americans, 7 French, 7 British, 6 Egyptians, 5 Dutch, 4 UN passports, 4 Indians, 3 Russians, 2 Moroccans, 2 Israelis, 1 Belgian, 1 Ugandan, 1 Yemeni, 1 Sudanese, 1 Togolese, 1 Mozambican and 1 Norwegian.
