A Kenyan bishop was on Friday hacked to death at a church in Juba, South Sudan.

The cleric identified as Joel Mwendwa was serving at the Christ Ministry located in Munuki when he was killed.

Confirming the reports, police spokesperson Brigadier Daniel Justin divulged that the police believe that the bishop was killed using a panga.

Mr. Justin noted that several suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder.

"We went to the place of the incident and some of the suspects have been arrested.What we understand is that he was killed using a panga, but we are waiting for a medical report," Justin told journalists.

Mr. Mwendwa's body was transferred to Juba Teaching Hospital awaiting post mortem.
