1. Follow the dress code

Even if it makes you uncomfortable. The host has a running theme and the memories need to be near perfect for the mother. Remember, it's not your party. Respect the host by dressing according to their dress code.

2. Carry a gift

If the mother-to-be is registered with a store, be sure to buy a gift from her registry. If not coordinate with the organisers so that you don't buy something which someone else has.

3. Don't go with other people unless you had RSVP'd them

This is bad form because the meals and sitting plan could have been preplanned.

4. Don't show up with your baby unless you'd been told to

It's a baby shower not a play date.

5. Don't offer unsolicited advice

No matter how well-intentioned you are, keep any advice you have to yourself. Don't make any comments about the name the parents have choses. Don't harangue them with questions about when they're having their next child. You're a guest at a party. Don't apply for the position of monstrous in-law or busybody auntie.
