Former Homeboyz rugby player Andrew Wekesa who passed away last week will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 28, at his rural home in Lugari, Kakamega County.
Wekesa, 24, was brutally killed last week following an altercation with unknown people in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
He was later rushed to Shalom Hospital in Athi River but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Last Sunday, the Kenya Cup clubs joined Homeboyz in a memorial touch rugby tournament at the Jamuhuri showground, which also featured as a fund-raiser for the fallen player.
Club chairman Mike Rabar, Kenya Rugby Union director Oscar Mango and Mwamba RFC chairman George Mbaye paid their tributes at the event.
The Kenya Cup tie between Homeboyz and Blak Blad has been postponed to a later date as the Kenyan rugby fraternity prepares to pay its last respects to the player.

Promising career
Until his death, Wekesa was a member of the Homeboyz Rugby Team having joined in 2011 after clearing high school.
He was called up to the Kenya Under 19s that same year and went on to represent the country at the C.A.R. games.
He later had a short stint at Impala before returning to Homeboyz.
He played his last game for the club this season against Impala in a Kenya Cup game tie, where he picked up an injury and was scheduled to return to action in February.
