Ruto was forced to turn away at the main Mumias road, going through Mateka- Siritanyi and instead proceeded to Kanduyi constituency, after rowdy youth blocked his way claiming the Jubilee government had sidelined the area and not kept its campaign development promises.

The youth blocked the main bus terminus in Bungoma town and chanted pro-NASA and ODM slogans, before destroying and setting ablaze jubilee flag and campaign materials earlier handed out by Bungoma Governor, Kenneth’s Lusaka in an ISIS style video.

Police efforts to try to calm them down bore no fruits.

Now it seems their actions has caught up with them.

Bungoma police station Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) yesterday sent letters to the leaders requiring them to come and record statements today morning, Osman Simiyu, the PSV operators chairman said.

“Letters were sent to eight of us who include managers of the bus park to appear without fail," Simiyu told the Star.

Among those who attended the security meeting was deputy county commissioner, George Lugo.

Lugo is said to have read the riot act and warned the operators against political violence and anarchy.

“This should be the last time such an incident occurs.  Every politician should be allowed to sell his manifesto," Lugo was quoted as saying.

The deputy commissioner is said to have also asked for the names and details of all members of the matatu groups for close scrutiny of course.
