Wendy Williams Puts Talk Show On Hiatus To Deal With Graves' Disease Symptoms
Wendy Williams has suspended production of her talk show so that she can deal with symptoms of her Graves disease , an autoimmune disease that impacts the thyroid. Wendys team made the announcement late Monday night on her Twitter account.
Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms of her Graves disease which is causing fatigue, the statement says. In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment.
The statement ended on this note: We look forward to welcoming Wendy back soon and continuing the Wendy@Home shows. The statement also said that theyll share updates on when Wendy will be back to work soon.
This isnt the first time Wendy has taken a hiatus from her show due to symptoms of Graves disease. She also took a three-week break from filming in February 2018. Graves disease squeezes the muscles behind the eyeballs, she said on The Wendy Williams Show at the time. Wendy originally wrote off her symptoms as being caused by stress over her son Kevin applying to colleges, and her work, but eventually learned they were due to her condition.
In case youre not familiar with it, Graves disease is an immune system disorder that causes the overproduction of thyroid hormones, according to the Mayo Clinic . Symptoms usually include anxiety and irritability, a tremor in your hands or fingers, heat sensitivity, unexplained weight loss, a change in your menstrual cycles, frequent bowel movements, bulging eyes, fatigue, thick, red skin thats usually on the shins or tops of the feet, and heart palpitations, the Mayo Clinic says. (Wendy and her team didnt specify which symptoms shes having right now beyond fatigue.)
Feel better, Wendy!
