The former England captain has decided to stick to club football bidding farewell to national team as a top scorer.
Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia have so far found their name in this historic moment owing to the fact that Rooney’s goal for Everton on July 13 during the 2017 SportPesa Super Cup is one of his three latest goals scored ahead of the retirement.
He has since scored against Stoke City and Manchester City in their recent Premier League matches. In total, he has 200 league goals and 53 national goals.
