Sonko will present himself before the committee to answer questions based on the ban that was effected on Monday.

Many city dwellers who rely on the public commuter services were made to walk for long distances to the new stages provided by the county government.

The setback caused by the new regulations, caused the Governor to apologise to Kenyans and stated that the ban remains despite the struggle faced by the passengers.

“The situation will improve,” stated Sonko.

Sonko Sued

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja moved to court on Monday to have the rule suspended until proper consultations were made.

“I'd like to apologise on behalf of leaders to all Nairobians who are suffering today as a result of the ban.

"There was no consultation on this ban and as you can see it is a directive that was not carefully planned or thought out,” stated Sakaja.

Points of Concern

Kenyans highlighted that the ban led to a congestion of the foot bridges particularly at the Ngara and Muthurwa bridges.

Some feared that the bridges would collapse due to the excess weight and had to seek clarity if to use them or not.
