The communications authority stated that after the report they would decide which action to take against the telco. Director-General Francis Wangusi had on Monday warned that action would be taken against Safaricom if there was negligence on their part.

"If we find there was an act of negligence or a deliberate action, then we will penalise them,” Mr Wangusi said.

The technical hitch affected voice calls, SMS, internet connectivity and MPesa countrywide sparking outrage from its subscribers.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday Safaricom subscribers enjoyed free Mpesa services for 24 hours as a compensation for Monday.

"As a small gesture, from midnight Tuesday to midnight Wednesday, all our customers will be able to send money on the MPesa network for free," Collymore said on Tuesday.
