Rumor Has it Rami Malek Is in Final Negotiations to be the Next Bond Villain
It had been previously reported that scheduling conflicts had ruled Malek out of Bond 25, which will be helmed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. However, Colliders sources claim that talent agency WME have been able to work out a shooting schedule which will accommodate both Bond 25 and Maleks existing commitments to the final season of Amazon Prime series Mr Robot.
Maleks star has risen far and fast since his appearances in the Twilight and Night At The Museum film series; in addition to playing the lead in Mr Robot alongside Christian Slater, he has worked on remakes of Oldboy and Papillon, and voiced eccentric show-runner Flip McVicker in the fifth season of Netflixs BoJack Horseman. His next confirmed role is that of Chee-Chee the gorilla in 2020s The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.
Damn, Rami's career is like rocket science. I remember when he was playing as Benjamin in Breaking Dawn. Now he got an Oscar and playing as villain in Bond 25. https://t.co/Yu8mLTrHEV - Dinda. (@ClaireBearStory) February 27, 2019
The Bond franchise has a history of tapping Oscar-winning actors to play the baddie. Javier Bardem, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in No Country For Old Men, went on to play Raoul Silva in 2012s Skyfall, which in turn earned him a BAFTA and SAG nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category. And Christoph Waltz, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor twice for his performances in Quentin Tarantinos Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, eventually played 007s nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld in 2015s Spectre.
While the plot of the new 007 adventure remains a secret, we do know that Daniel Craig will be reprising the titular role, although this is expected to be the last time he will appear in the franchise. Other returning cast members in Bond 25 will include Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, Ralph Fiennes as M, and Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann.
