Drama as MPs walk out of Parliament ahead of Rotich's budget speech

A dramatic incident has taken place after all female MPs walked out of the National Assembly - just before Treasury CS Henry Rotich delivered the 2019 budget speech.

The female MPs were protesting the physical assault on Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi who was beaten up by Wajir East Rashid Kassim at Parliament buildings parking lot.

Kassim has since been arrested after the matter was reported at Parliament Police Station.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi condemned the incident, saying action would be taken against Kassim.
