When she was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in 2015, Janet Kanini vowed to fight the disease that had claimed her father 8 years ago with all her might. And sure enough she beat it in 2016.

In February 2016 she announced that she was cancer free. “My dear friends, relatives, colleagues, supporters, prayer warriors. I have wonderful news! Our prayers have been answered! I am redeemed from the affliction of cancer!” She posted.

Unfortunately the disease resurfaced again and claimed her life last Saturday. As they prepare to lay her to rest tomorrow in Narumoru, family, friends and members of the press gathered at Nairobi Baptist Church for her requiem mass. This was after an earlier viewing of the body at Montezuma Monalisa Funeral home on Mbagathi Way.
