CONOKA SANA! The female rap wars go on…and It’s getting uglier and uglier
There’s no way Femi One was the best female rapper and there’s no way she had the balls and the skills to carry this war to the last drop. There’s no way Femi On was ever more qualified than most of her peers in the game and when she took up the challenge of rousing her sleeping tigresses from their afternoon slumber, she must have been aware that she was plunging herself into waters she obviously couldn't swim too well in.
But she’s a rapper anyway and one of the greatest tenets of rap is grandiosity, bravado, self-exaltation and having a megalomaniac ego.
Every rapper worth his/her salt but always view themselves to be better than their peers and must always believe that they can annihilate their peers in any rap battle and butcher them clean in the studio. That’s one of the biggest beliefs in rap and you’ve got to to stand up for yourself in this genre of music that puts majesty before facts first.
That’s how Jay Z ended up beefing with Nas even though it was clear even to the most casual Hip Hop listener that Nas was far much more superior, talented, lethal , skilled and incredibly gifted than Jay Z ever will. But Jay Z ,like any rapper would, still took the war to Nas’ doorstep.
What happened after that, they say , is history.
Nas not only brutally obliterated Jay Z and totally murdered him in the greatest rap battle of all time, He gave the English Language an informal noun that was derived from the biggest diss track of all time – Ethered.
Today, if you totally destroy someone in a competition ,nuking them off and leaving them all bloodied and bruised, we say, you’ve ethered that person.
Jay Z has never recovered from that war. It still hurts to date. And it’s a fight he wishes never happened. But here are no regrets in Hip Hop. Just like there are no permanent enemies.
But there sure are embarrassing moments. And actually death of careers . Case in point, 50 Cent killed Ja Rule’s career. And Emimen would kill of anyone’s career with a single bar. Not even a real song.
Hip-hop is a culture built around machismo and bravado, so backing down or losing a battle could be detrimental to an artist's career. One slip-up and you could find yourself with a one-way ticket to obscurity.
Now, couple weeks ago, Femi One decided to rattle the snake’s cave. And dropped one of the rawest, hardest and shocking diss tracks of 2016.
We all rejoiced, clapped hands and gleefully played the song over and over. Leaving silly Youtube comments and goading the subjects of the diss track to reply or to forever hold their mouth.
Noti Flow was targeted and badly attacked. Sossun too was slapped away with a single, mean line. Kush Tracy was laughed at and derided badly. But it’s Njeri who felt the most heat….And who got battered extensively.
And then, after a little while, Njeri, a very gorgeous woman who doesn't take herself too seriously and loves to flow in Gikuyu, decided to hit back.
Femi One definitely didn’t see Njeri’s reply coming. And obviously didn’t anticipate the kind of mercilessness, pettiness and skillfulness that Njeri would attack with.
Njeri droppedand from the lyrics in the song, it was clear that Njeri was more than up to the task of hurling pride-wounding taunts at her opponent.
In the song, Njeri has shamelessly taken on Femi in the pettiest way any rap battle could ever be handled.
Njeri grabs Femi One and hauls her down the stairs, goes after her, grabs her up again, slams her against the wall, bitch-slaps her, punches her in the face, knocks her nose out and then hurls her across the room as she goes tumbling, bleeding and panting for air.
Njeri spares nothing in her icy 2 minutes and 44 seconds reply. It’s as mean, as raw, as heartless ,as potent and as vicious and as vile as a diss track can get.
Njeri slams Femi One for her ‘ugly’ looks by stating that ‘Wi Mushong’i’ in Kikuyu which translates to ‘You’re Ugly’. The You’re ugly line is repeatedly brought up throughout the song .
Njeri also slams Femi telling her to ‘Conoka’ which means ,’ Be ashamed’ in English.
It’s clear she didn’t take too much time penning her lyrics. And definitely didn’t take the writing process to seriously either.
The song starts with the lines ‘Ona dogeigua thoni’ which translates to ‘You cant even feel ashamed’
It then goes deep into matters of beauty, flow, money, relevance and skill before Njeri gets pettier and pettier and starts attacking Femi One’s physical looks, face and tomboy nature.
The second verse is pure savageness. And absolute horror.
Best lines from the song…

Eveyone seems to have agreed…Njeri has done a splendid job.
But did she ether Femi One ? Is this the best reply yet? Is Femi One going to hit back? Can it get worse than this?
We’re definitely here for it all. Keep the beef cummin’ girls!
