Calm Down! Raila reassures anxious CORD supporters on who will be their flag bearer, 2017
Baba has come out to calm down political temperatures on who will be their flagbearer.
The opposition chief, Raila Odinga broke his silence on the festering issue and cautioned against panic in CORD saying there was no reason to panic.
“When the time comes for us to name the candidate, we will not disappoint,” Baba reassured anxious Kenyans.
Raila, has also rubbished claims that the coalition will eventually breakup, due to internal disagreements over who will be CORD flagbearer, to face off with Jubilee party candidate, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The idea that there will be irreconcilable differences in Opposition and each party will eventually field a candidate is a dream of Jubilee. It will not happen,” the ODM leader told the Standard.
Raila assurance comes on the back of persistent demands by his co-principals, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Wetang’ula Wetangula (Ford Kenya) that he should drop out and back either of them, on the premise that they stand a better chance to dislodge Jubilee from power.
Wiper party for instance, has demanded that the joint opposition candidate should be declared before the end of this year.
Jubilee party has also been capitalizing on the lack of a known opposition candidate, Deputy President, William Ruto has especially been exploiting this ‘leadership gap’ even coining catchy political phrases such as, “sisi tumejipanga bwana, sisi tunajua nani ni president na deputy president 2017, wachana na hawa watu wa karata” Ruto has made a point of uttering it in every political, church and fund raising rally.
