We can have tots of whiskey, Sonko says after Cabinet meeting on Pumwani deaths
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was on Monday caught on tape saying members of Cabinet deserved some shots of whiskey after holding a special meeting on the discovery of dead bodies at the Pumwani Hospital.
Sonko chaired the special Cabinet meeting after he did what was described as an impromptu visit at Pumwani where he also discovered 12 infant bodies that were stashed in polythene bags and kept in boxes.
The Governor also suspended the board and senior management of the hospital after which he called a Cabinet to discuss the matter.
The Cabinet meeting went on for about twenty minutes and was recorded live on Facebook.
Towards the end, one of CECs asked about a planned retreat to Mombasa to which the Governor reassured them that they would need an approval from the “head of cabinet”, in reference to County Secretary.
“We only know you are our boss…” one of the CECs as the rest of the Cabinet members sought to defend the trip.
“There is no problem. Ile kazi mnafanya hapa (the work you are doing here) we can even have some tots of whiskey,” Sonko was heard responding as the meeting came to an end.
