This is coming a few days after the Nock officials adopted the new constitution that has allowed elections to be held to change the face of Nock.

The former world marathon record holder will battle it out with incumbent legendary Kipchoge Keino who has been occupying the seat for over a decade now.

According to Tergat his aim is to create a strong sense of togetherness in the athletic world and as well as restoring Kenya’s relationship with the Olympic family.

“After serving the nation as an athlete for more than two decades, today marks another new chapter as I join another race in my career. For a long time, I have watched from the periphery in as far as the management of sports is concerned. At times, I have played peripheral role just to ensure that the interests of athletes are taken care of,” Tergat declared.

Recently Kenya was staring at a ban from IOC after Nock executive members ganged up to shoot down a proposal to pass the negotiated constitution.

Aaron Komen, the sports Administrator at the Ministry of Sports and culture, praised the Nock to adopt the reforms at a time when the country was staring at a ban from IOC.

The Nock elections will be held May 5, 2017.
