Governor cancels Christmas break for county employees

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has canceled the Christmas break for his employees and recalled all those who had taken their annual leave.

Making the announcement on Tuesday, the governor explained that his administration is committed to service delivery.

He made the decision following a closed-door meeting with senior county officials during which they established that many projects were yet to be completed.

"The staff are required to implement, supervise and monitor the implementation of these projects.

"If they go on leave, who will ensure that the job is done? Service delivery remains a priority for the government. Consequently, no staff should be on leave," he stated.

Governor Kimemia instructed his senior officials to structure leave days for the workers at a later date.

"Those on leave should immediately resume work while no request for leave will be approved.

"The chief officers should agree with the affected staff on how to take their leave in future," he instructed.

The Long Rains

The governor admitted that most of the development projects especially in the roads and infrastructure departments were affected by the long rains that hit the country between the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018.

He emphasized the need to complete the projects before the long rains resume.
