Gichuru revealed that she was classmates with Haji at the University of Wales College of Cardiff Law School.

In a statement released on her social media account, the TV mogul said, "Wishing you all the best as you serve the nation in this capacity."

President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Haji to replace Dr. Keriako Tobiko who was appointed as the Environment Cabinet Secretary.

Haji previously served as the National Intelligence Service deputy director.

Mr. Haji is also the son to Garissa senator Yusuf Haji.
