According to Kenya Power and Lighting Company, the power outage was due to a system disturbance that is being dealt with.

“Kenya Power engineers are battling to identify the fault and restore power supply as quickly as possible,” read the press statement released shortly after the blackout.

Some of the areas affected include Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Meru and Kisii.

Cause of the outage is yet to be determined.
