At the time of the crash, the chopper was carrying four men and a woman.

The chopper crashed in the lake shortly after take-off from Jarika Hotel in the town.

Rescue operations are currently ongoing at the scene of the crash.

It is reported that those on board were journalists who were being transported to a political rally.

"It left the hotel at 7am to Narok but crashed in the Lake," Nakuru OCPD Joshua Omukatta said.

He said some of the chopper's debris has been seen floating in the lake but the rescue team is yet to find the occupants.

The lake has been sealed off for rescue operations.
